Detlev founded Harms Consulting in 1996 and has headed the management team ever since, building a strong value based organisation.
“I’ve always wanted to put people first. I started my IT career in the 80s when complex large scale projects often resulted in burnout of consultants and stretched client relationships. People left projects unhappy and unrewarded. Many clients were confused about the value consulting organisations offered.
“What I’ve implemented is a strong value system we can all subscribe to. It motivates us to get up and go to work in the morning and be the best we can be for our team and our clients. I constantly challenge everything we do based on these values.
“We’ve grown consistently and the fact we work almost exclusively with long term satisfied customers shows we have the right focus. Most people know us for our expertise in the Real Estate sector, which is an important differentiator for us. We also have a very successful SAP Application Management Team, with a reputation of not only running SAP in an efficient manner, but improving business value significantly at the same time.
“I‘m lucky to have an exceptional team; some of the best professionals I’ve come across in my career. My goal is to grow this team and expand our reach in Australia, New Zealand and the Asia Pacific region.”
Detlev studied Information Science and Business management in Germany and started his career as a SAP consultant and developer in the Oil & Gas industry, in Hamburg, in the late eighties, before migrating to Australia. He knows SAP from the ground up and still gets involved in solution design as well as project governance.
